Glasgow/Edinburgh: hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

We are offering an exciting opportunity for new roles for forward-looking individuals with a commitment to getting evidence used in day to day frontline care. You will use your information and knowledge skills in innovative ways to deliver decision support tools that bring evidence to the fingertips of staff and citizens across Scotland’s health and social care.

You will be a key member of Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s (HIS’) Right Decision Service team, which leads delivery of Scotland’s national decision support service. In this role you will create and facilitate use of decision-ready guidance, clinical pathways, shared decision aids and risk scoring tools- to enable NHS staff to make consistent, safe, person-centred decisions in direct patient care and service improvement. You will be in the vanguard of embedding evidence in digital transformation of health and care to address national strategic priorities and deliver on HIS’ strategic goals.

You will combine creativity and a capacity to innovate with experience in engaging with users to understand their information needs, and a meticulous approach to sourcing and summarising evidence, organising, structuring and quality assuring digital information for quick and easy access at point of need. You will be an effective team worker with an ability to collaborate with other colleagues within the Right Decision Service, other parts of Healthcare Improvement Scotland and stakeholders across health and social care.

You will hold a Postgraduate Masters qualification in a library, information or knowledge management-related discipline. You will demonstrate commitment to, and experience of, user-centred digital design and sound knowledge and skills in digital delivery of evidence in a way that supports clinical and care decisions as well as development of policy and guidance. Ideally you will have some understanding of the construction of basic decision support rules and algorithms. You will have experience of successfully communicating and analysing complex information, and will show that you find creative solutions to complex problems.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Evidence and Digital Directorate is a complex and wide-ranging directorate which develops and disseminates evidence-based advice for NHSScotland, such as clinical guidelines, health technology assessments and clinical standards, and also provides evidence development, research, health economics, knowledge and decision support for the other functions of the organisation and for external partners.
