ScotGEM Generalist Clinical Mentor (GCM) - Clinical Interactions Course (CLIC)
1 session (Tuesday afternoons)
£115,217 to £128,569 pro rata
We are seeking an enthusiastic GP, with an interest in medical education, to provide support to the Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine course (Scot GEM) in Dumfries and Galloway.
ScotGEM is an innovative graduate entry medical programme, employing a case based approach to learning.
It is a 4-year course that was commissioned by the Scottish Government with a specific remit to widen access to medicine and promote generalist careers in under-served, especially rural areas. The Universities of St. Andrews and Dundee are leading this in conjunction with the University of Highlands and Islands, NHS Boards in Dumfries & Galloway, Fife, Tayside and Highland. The course has been running for 7 years and has successfully graduated 3 cohorts of students.
As a ScotGEM CLIC GCM you will support our GCMs, who are also GPs, to deliver the Clinical Interactions Course (CLIC) based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on a Tuesday afternoon. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of learning resources and to the student examinations as well as contributing to other years of the ScotGEM programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant education team both locally in Dumfries and Galloway and also across Scotland. It would suit new GPs looking to expand their teaching skills and also more experienced GPs and educators looking for a new challenge.

Dumfries and Galloway is a friendly rural region with good housing, schools and links to Carlisle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast.
