We are looking to recruit a group of exceptional individuals to join us as Clinical Research Fellows within the Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility. You will lead on innovation and delivery of commercial research with opportunities to develop your own academic/commercial research portfolio. You will be a critical part of the 2024 Investment programme (VPAG) which was agreed between the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and the ABPI to support patient access to medicines, the financial sustainability of the NHS and the UK life sciences sector (2024 voluntary scheme for branded medicines pricing, access and growth - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). The postholders will engage in study set-up, patient recruitment, consent, assessment of enrolment, monitoring patients during trials, conducting procedures and assessments relevant to each trial. They will be supported by research-active NHS Consultants as well as the CRF Directors and Deputy Director.
Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility (https://clinical-research-facility.ed.ac.uk) provides a broad range of clinical research facilities and an optimal environment for the conduct of clinical research. It employs over 100 members of staff and is operational over three sites: Royal Infirmary, Western General Hospital, and Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. The facility has several Core areas including genetics, mass spectrometry, statistics and epidemiology, image analysis and education as well as the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. It was the first academic unit to obtain full first-in-human Phase I accreditation from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. The Facility currently has three directors: Professor Bean Dhaun, Professor Peter Hayes, and Professor Steve Cunningham (paediatric lead). The directors provide strategic, operational, and clinical oversight of Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility in conjunction with Dr Corrienne McCulloch, Deputy Director.
Job description
· Good clinical practice.
· Develop an in-depth knowledge of clinical trials and working with industry.
· Working within the Edinburgh CRF with experienced nurses and clinicians.
· Learn about the infrastructure and delivery of clinical trials.
· Experience in clinical trial governance.
· Patient and public engagement.
· Sub-investigator roles for clinical trial experience in a range of specialties.
· Supervision and collaboration with researchers in a wide range of clinical specialties as well as links with academics at the University of Edinburgh.
· Flexible nature of the work allows plenty of time for personal research.
