Location: National Headquarters, Gyle Square
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent ( Accept NHS Secondments)

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our dynamic Finance Team—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a difference through financial excellence.
🔍 What You’ll Do
As part of a small, supportive team reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you’ll be responsible for:
• Preparing budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial statements
• Providing financial advice to operational and departmental managers
• Analysing spending patterns to support year-end financial performance
• Ensuring compliance with NHS financial policies and Standing Financial Instructions
• Presenting complex financial information to non-finance professionals
✅ What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria (assessed via Application Form and/or Selection Process)
Qualifications
• Part-qualified accountant or equivalent, currently studying towards qualification (AF)
Experience
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ practical experience in management accounts or financial accounts (AF/SP)
• Strong IT skills including Excel, Business Objects (Boxi), Power BI, Power Query (AF/SP)
Skills & Knowledge
• Proven track record in monthly management accounts processing (SP)
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills (SP)
• Ability to present complex, potentially contentious financial information to non-finance audiences (SP)
• Skilled in managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines (SP)
Personal Attributes
• Demonstrates NHS values and builds collaborative relationships (SP)
Other Requirements
• Self-reliant and capable of directing support staff (SP)
• Produces robust, reliable financial information under pressure (SP)
Desirable Criteria (assessed via Selection Process)
• Experience delivering financial training to finance and non-finance managers
• Experience working with senior managers across disciplines
• Practical experience in ad hoc costings
• Involvement in continuous business improvement initiatives
• Experience working in NHS Finance (AF/SP)
