The shift pattern for this post is has yet to be confirmed.

An O&G Clinical Fellow post at ST3+ level is available to commence immediately until August 2026.This post is based in the Maternity Unit in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The successful candidate will join a team of 17 middle grade doctors in providing day-time and out-of-hours care for O&G patients. The appointee will be an integral part of the clinical team.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of emergency care through Labour Ward and Gynaecology Emergency on-calls
  • Daily ward rounds
  • In-patient and out-patient management for both O&G patients
  • Participation in gynaecology theatre sessions
  • Contribution to antenatal clinics and gynaecology clinics
  • Participation in the department’s teaching, audit and educational activities

The post will involve a full-shift working pattern, resident when on duty.

The rota is compliant with the EWTD and the New Deal Band 2B

As stated above, there is good opportunity for attendance at out-patient clinics and theatre sessions. Whilst this post will not be recognised for training, the successful applicant will be offered the same opportunities for education as the other middle grade trainees at an equivalent level. This post is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to enter training at ST3+ level who require experience in a busy tertiary unit to help bolster CV opportunities.

Essential criteria for application include:

  • Immediate start within 4 weeks of interview
  • MRCOG part 1
  • At least 2 years of middle grade experience in O&G
  • Independent practice on Labour Ward for basic competencies including instrumental deliveries and caesarean section

Desirable criteria for application include:

  • MRCOG Parts 2 and 3
  • UK based middle grade experience

To practice medicine in the UK, you require to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practice.
