Permanent Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Public Dental Service for a Dental Services Manager.

The PDS works in compliment to the General Dental Service to deliver dental care to the Islands population, with a particular concentration on Priority Groups, specialised services and urgent dental care for unregistered patients. In addition, the PDS delivers oral health programmes, such as Childsmile, as well as public health epidemiological projects such as NDIP. In more rural regions, the PDS delivers a high level of GDS services to the community.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to oversee the operational delivery of the service, overseeing a team of approximately 60 staff. The post holder would be expected to provide performance management, implementing new systems to optimise the service and ensuring safe and effective patient care is provided, and meeting national and organisational objectives, under the direction of the Director of Dentistry.

If you feel you have the qualities to provide effective leadership within a large team and are passionate in delivering an effective and high-quality service, this role may be for you.

Known as Scotland’s Atlantic Islands, the Western Isles are steeped in history and culture, with stunning landscapes, spectacular coastlines, a strong sense of community and identity, and renowned Hebridean hospitality. For those with young families, the Western Isles also offer a safe place to live, a high-quality education system with low levels of crime.
