Clinical Fellows in General Medicine - University Hospital Monklands
(9-5 only)
We have Clinical Fellow opportunities available within the Department of General Medicine at University Hospital Monklands, with an immediate start until August 2026. These posts would be ideal for someone who has completed foundation training and perhaps looking for more experience prior to applying for specialty training.
University Hospital Monklands is a busy district general hospital with approximately 400 in-patient beds. It is situated in Airdrie in the West of Scotland, which is within commuting distance of both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
We are a friendly department with a wide range of medical specialties on site including regional renal and infectious diseases units.
Successful candidates will be assigned a clinical/educational supervisor and a Personal Development Plan, which will be agreed based on previous experience and educational needs. Regular meetings with supervisors will take place to generally provide you with support, and to help you meet PDP goals.
Day to day work will involve reviewing in-patients and progressing their investigations and management plans, performing necessary procedures, liaising with family members and communicating with primary care.
The hours of work will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday; however, there may be opportunity for successful candidates to work additional ad-hoc shifts should these become available within the wider rota.
The hospital runs an educational program with both hospital wide and general medicine specific education sessions. There is also opportunity to take part in clinical audit and quality improvement projects.
