We have an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our small, enthusiastic Health Improvement Team within the Public Health Directorate. The postholder will take forward a programme of Public Health/Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland to deliver on national and local targets and priorities.
Working collaboratively across all parts of NHS Highland’s organisational structure and with partner agencies. This post will operate throughout Highland's geographic area therefore the post holder must be able to travel around the area.
The post will be based in Inverness.
You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practice of Public Health/Health Improvement, the use of data for assessing need and communicating messages about health and working with delivery partners and communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities would be advantageous. Practical experience of a minimum of four years in the field of health improvement and in particular mental health as well as strong background in partnership working.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training. You will also be aware of the effects that inequalities have on health and the causes of health inequalities.
You will be aware of the impact that our geography and demographics have on our population’s health needs and on the way that we address these.
Candidates should be willing to pursue registration through the Faculty of Public Health practitioner registration scheme.
