With significant new investment and commitment to delivering the NHS Lanarkshire Digital Strategy (2023-2028), we are expanding our team to drive innovation, develop digital infrastructure across the Board, and improve outcomes for patients and staff.

The Role

This is a hands-on role within the TrakCare Team of the Digital Transformation division within the wider Digital (eHealth) department. Digital supports a diverse range of services within the local organisation in addition to external parties and suppliers. You will be responsible for the ongoing management of the systems in the team’s remit (currently TrakCare, Patientrack and eTriage).

The duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assist and advise on the ongoing management and development of the systems within the team’s remit
  • Provide advice and support to the users on the systems within the team’s remit
  • Working with suppliers to configure applications
  • Assist with the implementation of EHCR within NHS Lanarkshire in line with our digital strategy
  • Manage the development of digital letter creation within the systems
  • Participate in the weekly change control group and cover the administration tasks associated with this when required.

The position should offer challenge, innovation and be highly rewarding to the successful candidate. The workload on the team can be varied, therefore, sometimes you will be part of a project team assisting on a piece of work owned by the wider Digital Team, whilst at other times you may be the lead for a piece of work being undertaken by the team.

What we'll need you to bring

The post holder will be educated to HND level or have been significant experience in a technical support role within an information technology department and/or possess employment experience in a health service systems technologist role.

The post requires an individual who demonstrates a high level of technical and communication skills in all or most of the following areas.

  • Windows
  • Exchange
  • Microsoft Office
  • Unix
  • MS SQL Server


The post requires an individual who can demonstrate the following skills:-

1. Planning and Organising

  • Ability to manage workload, prioritise and assist in completion of routine and project workloads.

2. Communication

  • Proven skills of empathy with staff
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills

3. Teamwork

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team with both technical and user colleagues


Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Wide ranging experience with applications support in a complex environment
  • Applications support in an NHS environment
  • Service Management experience.
  • Exposure to the NHS environment would be of advantage.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques to support clinical and corporate applications
  • Good fault finding and call resolution knowledge
  • Knowledge or experience of working with electronic applications in an NHS setting.
  • Knowledge of application support best practice
  • High level of IT keyboard skills and experience of varied IT equipment and systems
  • Good communication and negotiating skills and the ability to diplomatically deal with all levels of users and senior management
  • Proven approach to organisation, administration, documentation and workload prioritisation with demonstrable proactive initiative
