ADULT ACQUIRED SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICE
Band 8A Speech & Language Therapist
Ninewells Hospital, Dundee
7.5 hours per week
Fixed term/Secondment 23 months
Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with advanced skills in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)?
NHS Tayside is seeking a Band 8A SLT to work alongside our current AAC lead to lead and develop our adult AAC service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking, supportive team delivering specialist AAC assessment, intervention, and training across Tayside.
About the Role:
- Provide highly specialist AAC assessment and intervention for adults with complex communication needs across acute, rehabilitation, and community settings.
- Lead on the development and delivery of AAC pathways, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, service users, families, and partner agencies.
- Offer expert clinical advice, second opinions, and mentoring to colleagues across Tayside.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and research to ensure high-quality, evidence-based AAC provision.
- Deliver and coordinate AAC-related training for SLTs, other professionals, and carers.
- Support the implementation of national AAC policy and best practice, including IPAACKS competencies.
About You:
- HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist with substantial post-qualification experience, including extensive experience working with adults who use aided AAC.
- Evidence of advanced knowledge and skills in AAC, including assessment, device selection, and implementation.
- Experience of working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and providing clinical leadership.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teaching skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and service improvement.
- Ability and willingness to travel across Tayside.
