Are you a visionary pharmacy leader ready to shape the future of medicines governance and specialist pharmacy services across one of the UK’s largest health boards?

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced pharmacist to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Director of Pharmacy, Medicines and Pharmacy Governance. This is a pivotal role with strategic responsibility for leading and developing specialist pharmacy services, medicines governance, and workforce development across our acute and primary care settings.

About the Role

As Deputy Director, you will:

  • Lead the strategic planning and delivery of specialist pharmacy services including Pharmacy Public Health, medicines information and governance (which includes medicines policy, risk management, clinical effectiveness, and enquiry answering), pharmacy education and training, CD Governance and Regional Quality Assurance. You will also provide professional leadership for the Lead Pharmacist within the Research and Development Directorate.
  • Oversee the governance of medicines use across NHSGGC, ensuring alignment with national policy and regulatory standards.
  • Provide executive leadership for pharmacy workforce development.
  • Drive innovation and research in pharmaceutical care, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Represent NHSGGC at national forums, influencing policy and contributing to the advancement of pharmacy practice across Scotland.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a highly motivated and credible leader with:

  • A Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Significant senior management experience in pharmacy, including responsibility for staff, budgets, and service delivery.
  • Expertise in medicines governance, policy development, and clinical leadership.
  • A track record of innovation, research, and strategic influence at local and national levels.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
