NHS Lothian’s Acute Adult Therapy Service is one of the largest and most dynamic in Scotland, offering diverse clinical experience and strong professional development. Rotations are designed to provide broad clinical exposure and support career progression across key specialties.


Rotations include:


  • General Critical Care
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Acute Medicine
  • Trauma and Elective Orthopaedics
  • Respiratory
  • Out-patients
  • Neurosurgery
  • Stroke
  • Medicine of the Elderly
  • Major Trauma



These posts offer a diverse and stimulating clinical case mix across a range of specialties.
Our department is committed to supporting your professional growth through regular CPD opportunities and personalised development planning, facilitated via the NHS-wide Turas appraisal system.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive and innovative physiotherapy service.
You will play a key role in shaping service delivery and contributing to ongoing review and development within a dynamic and supportive team environment.


We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide concise professional advice and the ability to work in liaison with multi-professional teams.
  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills to deliver physiotherapy treatment planning, goal setting and discharge planning in a range of specialities.
  • A confident and assertive outlook to facilitate ongoing service development within a proactive and energetic department.



Weekend and on-call:

  • We will support training to ensure you are confident and competent in overnight on call and weekend working
  • You will participate in a 5/7 day working pattern which includes Saturday and Sunday working every 8 weeks

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
