Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Radiology team within the Day Intervention Unit (DIU) at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills within a highly supportive and innovative multidisciplinary team delivering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers, Nursing Staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and high-quality patient-centred care.

The Interventional Radiology service provides a diverse range of minimally invasive image-guided procedures including vascular and non-vascular interventions, angioplasty, stenting, nephrostomy insertion, biopsies, drainages, line insertions and diagnostic fluoroscopy procedures. The role involves caring for both day case and inpatient populations within a fast-paced acute environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care throughout the patient pathway including admission, preparation, monitoring during procedures, recovery and discharge. You will also assist during procedures as a scrub or circulating nurse, monitor sedated patients and maintain patient safety within radiation-controlled areas.
This role requires excellent communication, clinical judgement and organisational skills together with the ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. The post holder will frequently work within fluoroscopy environments and must be able to tolerate prolonged standing whilst wearing lead protective equipment.

The Day Intervention Unit comprises several specialities including Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, Day Surgery and the Surgical Elective Admissions Lounge (SEAL). There will be opportunities to develop skills and knowledge across these areas depending on service requirements.

We are looking for a nurse who is enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to delivering high standards of compassionate care within a technically demanding clinical environment. Previous acute nursing experience is essential and experience within Interventional Radiology, theatres, surgical or medical acute care environments would be advantageous.

You should have:
• Current NMC First Level Registered Nurse registration
• Relevant post-registration experience in an acute clinical setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing clinical situations
• Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice
• An interest in developing specialist skills within Interventional Radiology

In return, NHS Fife offers:
• Excellent senior clinical leadership and support
• Comprehensive induction and training opportunities
• Opportunities for professional development within a specialist service
• Supportive multidisciplinary team working
• Opportunity to rotate across areas within the Day Intervention Unit

Informal visits are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.
