The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) at NHS Grampian currently has a vacancy for a Band 5 Trainee Renal Technologist and are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced technician to join the renal team and train towards becoming a Specialist Renal Technician. This is a small team of 3 technicians who specialise in maintaining, repairing and managing a range of patient applied haemodialysis equipment and associated water treatment equipment. All equipment is used in various areas throughout the Grampian region.

Ideally you will have experience in a technical environment and will be able to clearly demonstrate post qualification technical training and experience in the support of a broad range of medical equipment, although ‘on the job’ and manufacturer specific training will be provided for this role.

The base for the post-holder will be Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, although the post-holder will be expected to carry out their duties across related Health Board sites and domiciliary settings as necessary, driving licence is therefore essential for the role.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
