We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Associate Practitioner to join the Cellular Pathology Department. Applicants must have a minimum of SVQ level 3 in biological/life sciences or a related subject with significant experience as a Healthcare Science Support worker or an SVQ 4/ HND in Biological Science or a related subject or equivalent experience.
Cellular Pathology is a busy but friendly department which processes approx. 21,000 biopsy requests, 1100 diagnostic cytology and 150 post mortems per year. The department is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189.
This post involves rotation through the various sections within the department including diagnostic cytology and routine Histology. Principle duties include sample preparation, embedding, microtomy and staining.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
