The shift pattern for this post is 5 days over 7.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 6 Community Dietitian to join the NHS GGC Dietetic Service for both the North East & South Quadrants teams. Both geographical areas provide dietetic services for all ages, and across diverse socio-economic and cultural groups. The population includes significant levels of high deprivation, chronic ill health and areas of affluence. The ability to motivate patients to make lifelong changes aiding the prevention or management of disease using skills of negotiation and behaviour change is essential.
The successful applicant will join 2 friendly and enthusiastic community dietetic teams in the North East & South quadrants. They will have a key role in:
- planning and providing an evidence based dietetic service to patients in their own homes, outpatient clinics, care homes, and supported accommodation. The dietitian will work in partnership with patients, their carers and other professionals including nursing, medical and AHP staff.
- planning, organising and undertaking clinics in various community / health settings to provide nutritional advice for referred patients e.g, gastro-intestinal conditions, diabetes, paediatrics, heart disease and metabolic syndrome, including those with physical disabilities and mental health impairment.
- supervising, teaching, mentoring of student dietitians, dietetic support workers and administrative staff.
- planning and delivery of education and training for health care professionals. This training covers detailed, broad ranging topical nutritional issues covering the entire life cycle.
- reviewing and improving service delivery by undertaking quality improvement activities and participation in development groups. Health improvement activities related to NHS GGC board and national policies and guidance from Scottish Government to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience e.g. Starting solids, Control it Plus, care home training.
Applicant requires minimum education to BSc Dietetics qualification, registration with Health Care Professionals Council, member of British Dietetic Association, PVG membership scheme / Disclosure Scotland and a drivers’ licence is essential.
