General Surgery Senior Clinical Fellow with interest in abdominal wall reconstruction surgery

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed term, full time (48 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary from 1 August 2026.
This post is suitable for a post CCT (or equivalent) trainee who wishes to gain experience in advanced open and laparoscopic management of abdominal wall hernias. Candidates should therefore have had adequate previous training in open and laparoscopic hernia surgery, and have support from their current trainers as to their suitability for advanced training in Abdominal Wall surgery.
The Unit performs most techniques of open and laparoscopic hernia surgery, including open Rives-Stoppa, open TAR, peritoneal flap, preperitoneal repairs, TEP/ETEP/TAPP for groin/midline/ incisional hernias, Pauli repairs for parastomal hernias (in conjunction with the local colorectal and urology teams). We do not currently perform robotic hernia surgery.
This post would be ideal for a post-CCT or surgeon towards the end of their training who wishes to become confident in open and laparoscopic complex hernia repairs, as well as increase their competencies in TEP groin hernia repair.
