The shift pattern for this post is: 5 over 7 days on rota basis.
The Retail Department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is seeking to appoint a motivated and experienced Retail Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of catering duties within our on-site retail outlet, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of food production, food safety, and customer service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation and cooking of meals to a consistently high standard, completion and maintenance of HACCP documentation and adherence to all food safety procedures, ensuring compliance with departmental Health and Safety regulations and policies, supporting and deputising for the Retail Supervisor as required.
Essential Criteria:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a chef in a fast-paced catering environment, excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, relevant catering qualification at SCQF Level 5 or 6, or equivalent.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
