This is an opportunity for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Older Adult Mental Health Occupational Therapy Service and newly established multidisciplinary Enhanced Dementia Support Service for adults living with Dementia who present with complex psychological needs or distressed behaviour.

The post holder will carry out specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and provide occupation focused treatment in a variety of settings, in addition to supporting multi-disciplinary formulation. They will work closely with other members of the Enhanced Dementia Support Service and with colleagues in the Older Adult Mental Health Service and wider health and social care system.

There will be a role in contributing to service development/quality improvement, service evaluation and audit.

The post holder will be line managed by the Enhanced Dementia Service Team Lead (Clinical Psychologist) who will also provide clinical supervision in relation psychological practice and MDT formulation. Occupational Therapy professional leadership and clinical supervision will be provided by the Mental Health & Learning Disability Services Occupational Therapy Divisional Lead.

Regular supervision and support will be provided as will the opportunity to develop through the use of an annual appraisal and a personal development plan.

It is essential that applicants have experience working with older adults and supporting people living with Dementia. Additionally applicants must demonstrate proficiency using relevant standardised and non-standardised Occupational Therapy assessments, and involvement in quality improvement and service development. The post holder must be able to use their own initiative and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Work will be primarily community based including undertaking community based home visits (main base within Glen O’Dee Hospital in Banchory), however the post holder will be required to work across a variety of sites/clinical settings.

A UK driving licence and access to a car required is required for this post. Flexible working, including evening and weekend work may be required to meet service demands.
