Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

Applications are invited for the above post at the Royal Hospital for Children at the South Glasgow Hospitals campus. The post is for a period of four months in the first instance to cover a rota gap, but may be extended depending on aspiration and service need. This post is at the level of Foundation Year One Training.

This post is aimed at individuals interested at foundation level who are interested in gaining exposure to, and experience in a tertiary paediatric centre. This post would be most suitable for doctors who have not yet matched to a foundation programme or who may be considering a career in emergency medicine, paediatrics, paediatric surgery, orthopaedic surgery, urology or plastic surgery, and have not yet secured a place in a core or specialty surgical training programme.

Whilst this post is not currently an accredited training post, the successful candidate will join the same rota as our current foundation year one doctors and will be awarded the same supervision.

Post holders will be encouraged to teach medical students, to participate fully in the educational activities of the department or associated specialties and will have access to the departmental surgical teaching programme. However, as the posts are not formal training posts, there will be no funding for courses or meetings and leave for this purpose will be by mutual negotiation.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a fixed-term post for 4 months. Full-time post of 48 hours per week.

This post is based solely at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.
