NHSGGC Learning Disability service is looking for a motivated, skilled, knowledgeable and effective qualified Occupational Therapist to lead our board wide occupational therapy services. This is a permanent, full-time position. The post holder will be HCPC registered, with a proven track record of leadership experience. Educated to masters level or equivalent, a formal leadership qualification is desirable.

There are established occupational therapy services in all six HSCPs alongside an inpatient service located on both Gartnavel and Stobhill sites . We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate they can work as part of an MDT, ensuring a culture of innovative service delivery/development. The post holder will preferably be skilled to at least SIFs level in Quality Improvement methodologies. As well this this experience of service audit and research is desirable. The post holder will provide professional leadership to three band 7 team leads who together support approx 14wte. Providing day to day professional advice and oversight of occupational therapy services, across the health board area. There is also a responsibility for providing support and advice to service managers in relation to and effective service delivery, workforce planning and recruitment. Taking cognisance of HCSSA in relation to deployment of staff to safely cover priority service areas. This post of 0.5 professional lead and 0.5 Clinical with the clinical element based in Glasgow City and the Professional role covering the board.

This is a strategic post that will require the ability to work at a national level influencing both the occupational therapy and AHP agendas. As such it will bel helpful to have an awareness of key strategic drivers such as Coming Home Implementation: A report from the working group on complex care and Delayed discharge.

A working knowledge of IT software such as Word, Excel, Co Pilot and familiar with Patient and Management Information Systems.

The clinical part of this role will carry a small caseload in the GC HSCP area where appropriate, there is an expectation that the post holder will support occupational therapists and the MDT with complex cases, this may require the need for joint visits or rarely observation of clinical interventions.

As a member of the SMT, there is an expectation that corporate tasks to support the work of the learning disability service will be undertaken, for example contributing to and leading on Significant Adverse Event Reviews, investigating complaints and supporting the clinical governance agenda.

As this as health board wide role, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
