We are advertising a fixed-term (1 year) post as Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (1.0wte) to join the Inverclyde Inpatient Service based at Langhill in Greenock. Psychology service within our Inverclyde Inpatient Service based at Langhill, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock. This is an exciting opportunity to fill a critical gap in our local Psychology service delivery, to deliver a high quality service to the acute admissions wards at Langhill, and consultative input to IPCU and Willow ward (long-stay). The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of core Psychology services to service users, with an emphasis on assessment, formulation, MDT care planning, and governance of psychological therapies (PTs). This will include direct clinical care, consultancy to the team on psychological care, ensuring systems of PT supervision are provided to relevant staff, and delivery of support, supervision and training to multidisciplinary staff in delivering psychological interventions. The post holder will also work alongside the management team and wider inpatient psychology staffing in the board in meeting key objectives of these services.

Applications are invited from Clinical or Counselling Psychologists registered as such with the HCPC, with substantial post-qualification experience in adult mental health and the supervision and contribution to the leadership tasks for psychology and wider multi-disciplinary staff. Experience in an inpatient setting is desirable.

The successful candidate will join the wider Inverclyde Psychology service comprising staff in our local CMHT, OP-CMHT and PCMHT, and be linked to our psychology service in Inpatient Services in Renfrewshire. The post holder will be well supported as part of the Clyde-wide Psychology staffing, and have access to a range of professional development and CPD opportunities.
