The role:
An excellent opening has become available within the RAH Neonatal Nursing Team at Paisley. The Neonatal Unit provides Level 2 care to patients and their families within Greater Glasgow and Clyde areas and work in collaboration with other Neonatal Units in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, providing Level 3 care.
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for ensuring generic and specialist, educational support and direction to nurses and health care support workers within the Neonatal service are delivered. The post holder will be expected to develop, facilitate, deliver and evaluate current and implement new educational programmes, meeting the needs of the Neonates, their families and nursing staff in the department. You will work in close collaboration with clinical personnel to promote, deliver and enhance high quality evidence based learning that will provide excellent standards of care.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Full-time position (37 hours per week)
- Permanent contract
Key responsibilities:
To develop and initiate educational programmes to meet the needs of individual nursing staff within the Neonatal Service at RAH to develop their skills and learning.
Work one to one with staff members to ensure adequate skills are developed and maintained for all nursing staff in the RAH Neonatal Service to develop a preceptorship working relationship with all staff.
Assist in implementing new frameworks, policies and protocols in the RAH Neonatal service.
To utilise a competency-based assessment framework appropriate to the range of specialities within the neonatal service.
Plan, deliver, monitor evaluate and maintain a competency based Corporate and Acute orientation/induction programme to all newly qualified graduate nurses and nurses new to Neonatal Service.
To support the band 7 Senior Charge Nurse team in the introduction, facilitation and evaluation of a competency-based framework.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
1ST level Registered Sick Child/Child branch nurse/Relevant similar Adult branch/midwifery qualification
PgCert Neonatal Qualification in Speciality
Minimum 7 years post Neonatal specific qualification experience.
Previous mentorship/teaching experience.
Computer literate.
Ability to positively influence and motivate staff.
Evidence of effective communication skills, written and oral.
Ability to implement and monitor standards of care.
Ability to plan, implement and manage own workload
Desirable
- PgCert Education Qualification
- Masters degree in Nursing or Education.
