Interim Director of Estates and Facilities
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

An exciting executive-level secondment opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) for an experienced and values-driven leader to join the Corporate Management Team as Interim Director of Estates and Facilities.

NHSGGC is the largest NHS Board in Scotland, serving a population of 1.3 million people with over 42,000 staff and an annual budget of £4.65 billion. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the infrastructure and essential services that support safe, effective and person-centred care at scale.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a complex estates and facilities portfolio, including:

  • Property and asset management
  • Sustainability and energy strategy
  • Fire safety, compliance and risk management
  • Decontamination, waste and environmental services
  • Catering, portering, logistics and core facilities services

You will lead over 4,900 staff and manage an annual revenue budget of approximately £350 million, ensuring safe, resilient, efficient and financially sustainable services aligned to organisational priorities.

As a member of the Corporate Management Team, you will contribute to Board-level strategy, governance and major transformation programmes.

About You

You will be a credible senior leader with:

  • Executive or Board-level experience within the NHS or a similarly complex organisation
  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary estates and facilities teams
  • Strong financial, governance and risk management expertise
  • Political awareness and the ability to work effectively across complex stakeholder environments

You will demonstrate NHS Scotland values, champion equality and inclusion, and maintain a clear focus on improving outcomes for patients, staff and communities.
