A 1WTE/37hrs vacancy for a B8A Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist has arisen within the board-wide Psychological Therapies Groups Service (PTGS). You’ll join an experienced and dedicated team comprising of Psychological Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and admin staff and deliver a range of high quality, evidence-based psychological therapy group programmes to individuals receiving input from any one of the Board’s Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs). You’ll contribute to the governance of the psychological practice of MDT colleagues in the team by providing supervision of their delivery of psychological interventions. You’ll be line managed and supervised by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Team Lead and receive professional support and CPD opportunities from one of the sector-based Adult Mental Health Psychology Departments.
You’ll be an HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with experience in adult mental health, gained via training or post-qualification experience. You’ll be required to provide clinical placements to a range of trainees, including those undertaking the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, therefore you’ll have completed, or be eligible for, formal training in the supervision of others that is recognised by the DClinPsy programme.
Newly qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologists and those approaching qualification are welcome to apply. A blended working pattern, including time working from home and time working from the team’s base(s), is possible.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
