Job Advert
NHS Grampian covers the North East of Scotland, we are the third largest healthcare provider and one of only four teaching Boards in Scotland. With strong links to local Universities and Local Authorities, the Board provides tertiary services to 586,380 people within Grampian and residents of neighbouring NHS Boards, employing over 15,000 staff members.
Acute services are provided principally from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin. Services in primary and community care are organised into three Health and Social care Partnerships in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray. As the largest Board within the North Region of NHS Scotland, Grampian works collaboratively with the other North Boards to ensure services that require to be delivered on a regional basis are done safely and effectively.
We currently find ourselves in the most challenging situation ever faced by the NHS to provide a continued response, including stabilisation and resilience of services, to live with COVID-19. The team have worked effectively and sustainably due to working in a systems leadership model. To continue to take the Board forward and thrive in the role, the Chief Executive will demonstrate passion for transforming healthcare and will embrace system leadership, creating the conditions for the senior team to work productively and to their full potential, to achieve the best for our population.
Candidates should have senior or executive management experience in health or social care organisations or in other public or private sector customer-facing organisations, and be attuned to the demands of regulation and of public scrutiny.
Candidates should also have a demonstrable track record of high level achievement against challenging performance targets. Given the requirement to be able to lead across boundaries and build relationships with Local Authorities, the Third and Voluntary Sectors and with patients, their families and carers, candidates must possess exceptional influencing and communication skills.
Aberdeen and the surrounding Grampian area has been voted one of the best places to live in Scotland. There is a charming balance between the cosmopolitan, internationally recognised oil capital that is Aberdeen, memorably described as a city with the culture of a village, and the rural, relaxed outdoor lifestyle of the coastal and inland towns of Aberdeenshire and Moray.
