An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team within the Medical High Dependency Unit at Raigmore Hospital. We are a 6 bedded critical care unit comprising of 4 open bays and 2 cubicles.

We are looking for a motivated, caring and compassionate nurse, who is able to work well under pressure and already has experience within this setting or are looking to gain enhanced experience within an acute environment.

The Medical High Dependency Unit admits acutely unwell patients directly from the Acute Medicine Unit, General wards, Community and Emergency Department. This is a fast paced and interesting environment to work within.

Successful candidates should be able to work well as part of a cohesive and dynamic team, have excellent care values and a good sense of humor. They should also have enthusiasm to work, and to learn and develop both themselves and their colleagues. Candidates must have strong written and verbal English language skills.

This is an ideal area to gain acute medical and critical care experience and be supported to develop your clinical skills. We help to support staff on career pathways to develop skills which can lead to a variety of roles including Senior Staff Nurses, Senior Charge Nurses and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
