Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for clinically experienced, highly motivated individuals to establish and lead the Complex Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (COPAT) Service within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. The multidisciplinary team will consist of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a Senior Pharmacist Antimicrobial Pharmacotherapy / OPAT Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner with an Area base therefore travel to other hospital sites and GP practices may be required.

Hours:
Post-holders will full time, 36 hours per week and participate in weekend, public holiday and extended hours as required. In accordance with AFC terms and conditions you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day. Applicants wishing to work part-time or as part of a job share will be considered.
These posts are offered on a permanent basis.
UK Driving Licence:
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What you will do:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinically experienced, highly motivated individual to establish and lead the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (COPAT) Service within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. The multidisciplinary team will consist of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a Senior Pharmacist Antimicrobial Pharmacotherapy / COPAT Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner. The team will work collaboratively to develop and implement safe, efficient and effective pathways for antimicrobial treatment closer to home for patients within Ayrshire & Arran. The COPAT MDT will work closely with existing practitioners within the Hospital @ Home service to provide access to parenteral antimicrobial therapy that will prevent hospital admission and reduce hospital length of stay. These roles involve significant multidisciplinary across primary & secondary care, working alongside microbiology consultants, the infection control team, medical and nursing staff and general practice clinicians.
As an independent prescriber, the Senior Pharmacist will take a proactive role in prescribing and monitoring of antimicrobial treatments and support the wider team to safely utilise their prescribing skills whilst ensuring antimicrobial stewardship & governance.
