The Role

To assist in the development and delivery of Health Promotion activities with the overall aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities in line with Scottish Executive priorities and local priorities and needs.

The working pattern for this role is flexible, shifts will be discussed with candidates at interview.

Please note these are fixed term posts: 2 x 23 month duration & 1 x 12 month duration. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

For the one year fixed term post experience supporting patients/clients around mental health conditions would be beneficial.

In this key role, you will:

  • Establish effective working relationships with a range of key partners including colleagues in the Health Promotion Department and Department of Public Health, other NHS colleagues both within and outwith Lanarkshire, Local Authority colleagues, Community Planning Partners and other public agencies, the voluntary sector, the private sector, members of the public and volunteers.
  • Contribute to the planning, development and delivery of a range of health improvement activities in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) Health Promotion principles and departmental planning and reporting procedures.
  • Organising and hosting events e.g. seminars, training events, presentations, meetings, to groups of more than 20 people.
  • Contribute to the work of partnership project teams.
  • Chairing and participating in relevant forums and committees.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience in working in one relevant, specific topic or skill-based area e.g. with young people, mental health, physical activity, nursing, community development, training, research.
  • Understanding of the health improvement policy agenda.
  • Project management skills.
  • Partnership working, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Training, facilitation and group work skills.

A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
