The purpose of Healthcare Improvement Scotland is to ensure the people of Scotland experience the best quality of health and care.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and positive individual to contribute to the delivery of the national quality assurance programme and regulatory function for independent healthcare in Scotland, which supports providers to improve the quality of care that people receive in Scotland.

You will lead and contribute to the planning and delivery of inspections and reviews across a range of independent healthcare services. You will assess compliance with national standards, identify areas of improvement, and support providers to enhance the quality of care they deliver. You will also contribute to enforcement activity where required, ensuring that regulatory actions are proportionate, evidence‑based and focused on protecting the public.

You will be expected to communicate complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing. Building constructive working relationships with providers, colleagues and external stakeholders.

This post will be within our team regulating the Independent Healthcare Sector. Applications are welcomed from healthcare and public health professionals. However, to maintain the skill mix of the team, we are particularly keen to hear from those with a clinical background, associated professional body membership, and experience in areas such as mental health service inspection, quality assurance, and the regulation of care and healthcare services.

Successful applicants will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a related field and hold a post graduate diploma in a relevant subject.

This role will require travel throughout Scotland (including overnight stays)
