The Role

The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards. The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Perioperative environment.

In this key role, you will:

  • To support and manage nursing staff within the Perioperative area ensuring that patient needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated, and that there is consultation and involvement of patient/carers
  • Contribute, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Department, Directorate and Division to ensure adherence to, and delivery of the highest level of patient care at all times.
  • Be fully conversant with the NMC/HPC & AODP Codes of Professional Conduct and other relevant documents, which support and maintain standards of professional practice for nurses, midwives and operating department practitioners
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care is assessed and implemented to ensure maintenance of standards of care given to patients and their families by leading and participating in clinical audit.

What You'll Bring:

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
