The role:
You will provide a quality domestic service to the hospital or CHP premises, ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice. Domestics are required to rotate round all Wards Clinical areas and depts within hospital.
May be required to provide a food and beverage service for patients in adherence with Food Safety Regulations.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is a part time post for 12.3 hour post
This post will be based at the Vale of Leven Hospital
These hours will be worked over Monday. Thursday–17.30-20.00. Friday – 17:30-19:51
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key responsibilities:
Your duties will include: To provide an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff, follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas.
Duties include cleaning all ward areas as well as clinical and non-clinical locations - activities will include wet mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins, replenishing supplies, cleaning fixtures, and furniture and toilet/bathroom areas.
There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to daily routine.
There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions.
In some roles you may be required to use mechanical cleaning equipment. You are required to wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
