The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Support Worker will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised.

You will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.

Please Note: Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

The working pattern for this role is: Monday to Sunday (07.30am - 20.00pm)

In this key role, you will:

  • Participate in personal career development planning to maintain skills and develop personal growth through training and education

  • Work within NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures (eg Health and Safety, Security, Fire, Cardiac Arrest, etc), as well as local guidance to ensure maintenance of confidentiality and safe working practices for patients and colleagues and promote the effective use of resources.

  • Provide, guidance and support to less experienced staff (e.g. Bank, Healthcare Assistants, HNC / Homecare) under the direction of a registered nurse

  • Assist in maintaining and promoting patients’ nutritional intake and fluid balance e.g. serving food and fluids and assisting patients, as required.

What You'll Bring:

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.

  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
