This is an opportunity for an experienced, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in the Bacteriology section of the Medical Microbiology Laboratory at Ninewells Hospital, who undertake 300,000 investigations per annum. The Department is approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS Education Scotland as a training laboratory. The department has UKAS accreditation to the ISO 15189 standard.

We are looking for a senior member of staff who can demonstrate team spirit, effective leadership and initiative. Candidates must be flexible and well-motivated and be able to work as part of a team. Extensive post registration experience in a UK NHS diagnostic Microbiology laboratory is essential. You will be working in a modern, progressive well equipped and fully computerised laboratory. Post qualification professional development is encouraged and supported.

Applicant must have or be working towards FIBMS/MSc in Microbiology or equivalent M level achievement. Applicants must have current HCPC registration and have completed an IBMS specialist portfolio in an appropriate subject or an equivalent qualification recognised by the IBMS. HCPC registration number must be stated on the application form.

Hours of work are: 37 hours per week over 5 days per week.

Saturdays are worked as part of the normal roster. On attaining appropriate competences you will also join the roster for the Out of Hours sessions which include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, backshifts and on-call.
