Post Title: Vascular Clinical Nurse Specialist

Location: Based at Victoria Hospital, but covers all of Fife

Salary/Banding: Band 6

Hours: 13.5 hours (permanent)

Open to NHS Fife employees only - You must be currently employed by NHS Fife to be eligible to apply for this post

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse with a strong interest in caring for individuals with Vascular disease to join NHS Fife’s Vascular Team. The successful candidate will become part of a small team of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who are integral to the multidisciplinary Vascular “hub” team covering the whole of Fife.
Although there are no designated vascular in-patient beds in NHS Fife, the Vascular CNS (VCNS) team provide advice and support to the people of Fife as in-patients during admissions under different specialities, and as out-patients in a variety of community settings. There are also various roles in patient care before, during and after interventions.

As a “hub” site, many of these are nurse-led and the VCNS team provide a constant presence on the Fife sites, therefore knowledge of wound care and previous experience of caring for individuals with arterial and venous disease would be advantageous, although training will be provided.

As a CNS, there will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to work at an advanced level of practice, encompassing the 4 pillars of advanced practice. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake self and formal assessment, and training at an advanced level as deemed necessary for the service.

With all of this in mind, an individual with substantial post-registration experience and educated to degree level would be preferred.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work flexibly as a member of the vascular team, and be able to liaise with staff in other clinical areas when required. Although the working hours will be primarily Monday – Friday and based on VHK site, travel around Fife (and potentially beyond) with occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills will be required to fulfill this role effectively.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

Please note as this a part time post salary is pro rata

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.
