The role:
As a Band 5 Therapy Radiographer, you will play a key role in the safe, accurate and compassionate delivery of radiotherapy treatment for patients with a wide range of clinical conditions. Working within one of the UK’s busiest cancer centres, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of approximately 7,200 radiotherapy courses each year.
In this role, you will be responsible for accurately planning and delivering radiotherapy using state-of-the-art technology, including Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, an ETHOS treatment system, and both CT and MRI simulation equipment supported by the Eclipse planning system. You will carry out precise calculations, treatment verifications and safety checks to ensure all radiotherapy is delivered in accordance with prescribed plans. You will also maintain accurate and detailed treatment records for every patient and provide a high standard of care, support and communication throughout their treatment journey.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre
- Permanent Contract
- Full-time position (37 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday, 0830 - 17:30
Key responsibilities:
- To operate the treatment machine/simulator controls, including gantry, collimator, couch, imager.
- To ensure that the parameters set match those on the prescription and plan.
- To check wedge direction, shielding blocks and multileaf collimator
- To report any aspect of the set-up which does not comply with departmental practice.
- To calculate and enter treatment details into ARIA
- To work within a team of radiotherapy staff on a treatment unit, simulator or CT simulator, or in the Booking office or pre-treatment area, and demonstrate flexibility within the staff rotation.
- To contribute to the training of student radiographers and assistant practitioners.
- To train, assist and supervise radiotherapy assistants.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
The following attributes are essential:
- DCR(T) or BSc in Therapy Radiography (or equivalent)
- State Registration with HCPC (Therapy Radiographer) is mandatory
- General knowledge of Radiation Safety and IR(ME)R Regulations.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
