Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a x2 Staff Nurse - Operating Department Practitioner based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Hours:

Post 1: 37 hours per week, offered on a permanent basis.

Post 2: 37 hours per week, offered on a permanent basis.

Post 3: 37 hours per week, offered on a fixed-term / secondment basis for 1 year of appointment date.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

What you will do:

We have vacancies within the Operating Theatres at University Hospital Crosshouse and are looking for Staff Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners to join our team.

As a qualified Registered Nurse working within the Theatre Complex, you will provide care of patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures within the peri-operative setting. Following the national reconfiguration for T&O we are now the major Trauma Unit for Ayrshire. This would create a fantastic opportunity for someone with existing skills in this field/looking to enhance their knowledge and skills.

There will be opportunities for further learning and gaining skills in anaesthetics.

There is also requirement for flexible working patterns and on-call commitments for theatre to cover emergency surgical procedures.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This is an opportunity for dedicated professionals to either develop or broaden their skills with in-house training and access to University West Coast of Scotland.
