The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Support Worker will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised. You will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.

Please note: Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency

The working pattern for this role include Days, Nights and Weekends

In this key role, you will:

  • Assist in the preparation of patients for procedures
  • Undertake recording of patient vital signs and report results to registered staff.
  • Monitor and order supplies and carry out required housekeeping duties, in order to support patient care
  • Carry out pre-use checks on some equipment, as specified in relevant protocols e.g. blood glucose monitoring equipment.

What You'll Bring:

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
