Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above permanent, full time post based in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
This is a newly funded NHS post supporting the General Surgery department with a special interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery and emergency general surgery. This post will comprise emergency duties and elective sessions at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE). There may be outreach elective general surgical sessions at St John’s Hospital which are shared with upper gastro-intestinaI (UGI) colleagues. This post will be part of a 1 in 17 on call Emergency Team (ET) rota providing 24/7 elective and emergency general and UGI services to the population of Lothian. Emergency surgical admissions to the Royal Infirmary are managed by a Consultant of the week who has no elective sessions and full support of middle grade and foundation doctors.
