Job Advert
This post is full time and a Fixed Term/Secondment Post for 18 months
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Information System (LIMS) Support Operational Manager to develop and build a centralised operational function for laboratory services across multiple health boards in Scotland.
NHS Scotland’s new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) will support the provision of laboratory services to primary and secondary care centres and provide interfaces with patient administration systems, electronic patient records, analytical middleware, electronic order communication systems and regional and national systems. It also provides the capability to create automation of workflows, integration of instruments, and management of samples and their associated information. There will be a requirement for local IT operational support within health boards, and for a central service that will manage those elements of the system that impact on multiple boards.
You will oversee all operational aspects of the LIMS deployment including service desk, problem management, change control, release management, and incident resolution processes. You will lead on the structuring of a new team of IT and application specialists to deliver the National LIMS service support as well as involvement in the operational aspects of LIMS implementation to new boards.
You should have proven experience in Laboratory IT and detailed knowledge of laboratory workflow and processes. You should be able to demonstrate excellent operational and technical skills along with experience in managing a complex digital environment.
We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive individual who is committed to achieving high quality Laboratory IT delivery within the health care environment and who possesses strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to develop, resource and lead a centralised Labs IT function.
