The role:
- You must be a HCPC registered dietitian. Experience of being part of a multi-disciplinary team and working in the community is desirable. A full UK driving license is essential for this post and experience of working in a multidisciplinary team, healthcare or similar setting is desirable
- The Rehabilitation Service responds to referrals from a range of areas which include; Acute, Community, Tertiary and Specialist Services
- Within the Rehabilitation Service the post holder by reason of their highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory, practice and experience, will deliver a high quality specialist service, providing expert clinical intervention, education and support to patients and their carers The post holder will provide specialist patient assessment, case coordination, treatment and planned discharge for adults with complex rehabilitation needs
- The post holder will work autonomously in a diversity of health and social care settings taking on, in addition to the professional clinical role, case co-ordination, health promotion, audit projects, staff / student supervision / induction and the provision of expert advice on Professional interventions
- The post holder will manage a complex clinical caseload within the service, applying specialist knowledge and skills relating to their professional role and working as an effective and efficient partner in the interdisciplinary team
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a community post, and you will work in a variety of locations in the North West of Glasgow
- This post will be based in the Maryhill Health and Care Centre
- The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:12
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients (including screening and multi-professional baseline assessments) with a complex presentation using investigative skills, analysing clinical and non clinical information (e.g. the interpretation and analysis of appropriate tests, biochemical data, anthropometric measurement and nutritional screening tools as well as social and environmental information ) and to provide a functional diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for Dietetic intervention
- Provide specialist interventions based on assessment, diagnosis, treatment and associated management of the nutrition and dietetic needs of the client. Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention
- Following assessment, act autonomously to assess, plan, implement and evaluate Dietetic interventions for a range of patients. This will include patients who have highly complex presentations and those with multi-factorial health and social needs, requiring multi-service/multi-agency input Incorporate risk assessment to maximise functional independence and rehabilitation potential within a specialist area
- Provide specialist input to the identification and management of disease related malnutrition e.g.
- Diabetes
- Chronic neurological patients
- Obesity
- GI disorders
- Understanding the significance in its role in therapy outcomes

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Dietetics
- Registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) and BDA
- Minimum of 3–5 years post‑graduate experience, including relevant experience in any of the following:
- Adult Rehabilitation
- Neurology
- Orthopaedics
- Medicine
- Care of the Elderly Specialities
- Effective communication skills
- Current full driving licence
- Ability to work independently
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary community‑based team
- Leadership skills
- Knowledge of IT systems
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
