Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is looking to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Bank Catering Assistants to join our busy Catering Department. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a large and supportive team that plays an essential role in delivering high quality catering services to patients, staff and visitors.
As a Bank Catering Assistant, you will support the Catering Production and Services Team in providing an efficient and effective food service. The role involves assisting with food preparation, meal service, delivery of meals to wards and departments, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness within the catering environment.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and service of patient meals including breakfast, lunch and supper, supporting food service within the staff and visitor dining areas, and helping to deliver catering services for internal and external functions. You will also assist with general kitchen duties such as wash up, cleaning, and meal distribution while ensuring that all food safety, hygiene and nutritional standards are met.
The role may also involve basic food preparation and the safe use of catering equipment such as ovens, turbo steamers, food processors, meat slicing machines, deep fat fryers and barista coffee machines. In addition, you will assist with checking deliveries and ensuring that food items are stored correctly in line with food safety legislation and audit requirements.
Successful candidates must be flexible and willing to work across different areas including the kitchen, dining room and other NHS Dumfries and Galloway sites as required. You will work as part of a team with supervisory support while following standard operating procedures and NHS Dumfries and Galloway policies.
This bank role offers flexible working opportunities and shifts will be offered on an as and when required basis.
Working Hours: Flexible shifts between 6.30 am and 9.00 pm
