Senior Clinical Fellow in Remote and Rural Anaesthesia
Band will be reflective of stage of training plus on call supplement
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 per annum

Fixed Term Contract for 6 months
We welcome applications for the post of Remote and Rural Anaesthesia Senior clinical fellow. The post is supported by NES and daytime training component will be funded as such. It is expected that the successful applicant will achieve key learning outcomes of Stage 3 Special Interest Area of Anaesthesia in resource poor environment.
The post is supported by both Western Isles Health board, and Shetland, with opportunity to spend 6 months in one or other centre, or to potentially split the post as 3 months in each. We would welcome any combination of this at the discussion of the successful candidate.
As a member of a small team of anaesthetists in a remote and rural setting we would expect there to be ample opportunity in both elective and emergency working, for adults and children alike. We would expect experience appropriate skills in the acute management of critical care patients, and the processes involved in their retrieval to mainland centres.
The Western Isles Hospital is base in Stornoway, serving a population of 26,500 spread across 11 islands, some of which are reachable only by air or sea. The Hospital is a modern and well equipped centre, with 82 acute beds including Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Day Surgery.
