Angus (1.0wte)

Dundee (1.0wte)

Perth and Kinross (1.6wte)

Salary - £62,772 to £67,762 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

We are seeking to recruit a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to our Adult Mental Health Services in each of our localities in Tayside: Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross.

Sessions may be configured across both primary and secondary care dependent on interest and service requirements. There are currently a number of developments within adult mental health which seek to improve how services, including psychological therapies, are accessed by the communities we serve. Clinical work is primarily on a 1:1 basis but we are also involved in the delivery of group work including Survive and Thrive and STEPPS in Angus and Dundee and DBT within the Perth CMHTs.

  • Angus

The Angus Adult service is based at Stracathro Hospital, by Brechin and this is where the adult primary care service is located. Clinical work, however, is undertaken in GP practices and health centres throughout Angus with staff typically only attending Stracathro Hospital once a week. There are 3 CMHTs in Angus based in the North East, North West and South of Angus. This post is solely for the adult primary care service.

  • Dundee

The Dundee Adult service is based at Dudhope House, Dundee. This is where the Adult Primary Care Psychology Service is located and clinical work is undertaken from here. There are also 2 Community Mental Health Teams in Dundee; one covering the west of the city and currently based at Wedderburn House, Edward Street; the other covering the east of the city and based at The Alloway Centre, Alloway Place. Both teams have dedicated clinical psychology provision.

  • Perth and Kinross

The Perth Adult service is based at Murray Royal Hospital, Perth. This is where the adult primary care service is located and clinical work is undertaken from here. There are 3 CMHTs in Perth and Kinross; Perth City which is currently based at Perth Royal Infirmary, North Perthshire based in Blairgowrie and South Perthshire based in Crieff and Kinross.

In addition to clinical work it is expected that the successful applicant(s) will have a key role in developing training, supervising of others and helping to deliver care in line with the key recommendations of our mental health strategy review.

There will be professional links to the Tayside Area Psychological Therapies Service which has a complement of over 150 clinical and applied psychology staff. Day to day management and supervision will be provided by the Lead Clinician/Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Adult Service in which you are based.

The Department provides a friendly, supportive and stimulating environment with a commitment to training of applied psychologists and advancing research. There are links with the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh and Stirling. Members of the department contribute to the supervision and training of trainees on the Edinburgh/East and South of Scotland Clinical Psychology Training programme, the Universities of Stirling and Dundee MSc Adult Applied Psychology course and the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh MSc Child Applied Psychology course
