About the Role
We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to train and work within our busy Housekeeping department at Golden Jubilee Hospital.
As a Housekeeping Team Leader, you will have responsibility for providing and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients, staff and visitors, supporting the reduction of Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI).
The role involves day‑to‑day supervision of housekeeping staff, managing workloads, coordinating rotas and ensuring staffing resources meet service demands. You will take an active role in staff training and development, ensuring all team members follow hospital policies, infection control standards and national cleaning specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising housekeeping staff and managing daily workloads and priorities
- Carrying out audits and inspections across the hospital to ensure cleaning standards are met
- Monitoring compliance with infection prevention and control procedures, COSHH and Health & Safety requirements
- Using the Facility Monitoring Tool and supporting monthly audit processes
- Maintaining accurate records, including timesheets, training records and audit documentation
- Liaising with ward managers, clinical teams and the Infection Control Team as required
- Supporting the Housekeeping & Portering Operations Manager and deputising as required
- Managing staff training, competency and performance, including sickness absence processes
You will be required to work flexibly across all clinical and non‑clinical areas of the hospital and may be required to work unsocial hours as part of a rota.
An SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent level of knowledge) is required for this Team Leader role.
About You
We are seeking an organised, confident and approachable individual who can lead by example and support high standards of service delivery.
You will have:
- Previous Team Leader or supervisory experience, ideally within a healthcare or facilities environment
- A strong understanding of infection control standards and cleaning within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of national cleaning specifications, Health & Safety and COSHH
- Experience of carrying out audits and inspections, with the ability to monitor and improve standards
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support teams
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- Experience in the formation of spreadsheets and collation of monitoring or audit data
The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team, communicate clearly at all levels and deal with sensitive situations in a professional and compassionate manner is essential
