The role:
We have an opportunity for a new graduate or an established band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Rotations. The rotation is within the acute physical service and includes a wide range of clinical areas such as older peoples, medical, Spinal, Neurology, orthopaedics and more!
You must be flexible, a team player, with excellent communication and problems solving skills with a keenness to contribute to the development of the services you work in as well as your own professional development.
You must be committed to providing good quality Occupational Therapy intervention and be reflective in your practice.
We are supportive of many development opportunities including the Flying Start programme and you will have access to regular on-site clinical supervision.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Based across various locations within Greater Glasgow and Clyde
- One Full-time and one part-time available
- Fixed-term contract for a duration of 12 months - 22.5 hours per week
- Permanent Contract - 36 hours per week
- Shift pattern for this post 5 days over 7, this may involve weekend working in some rotations
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Act independently to assess and analyse individual patients to determine their need for occupational therapy intervention within all areas of the rotation through client-centred practice.
- Act independently in prioritising patient needs to ensure individual patients receive intervention timeously and appropriately.
- Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care, incorporating risk assessment, to maximise functional independence and rehabilitation potential within the specialist area
- Manage own caseload of patients effectively and efficiently, with support from Senior Occupational Therapists.
- Be responsible for the comprehensive assessment of those patients / clients with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills with support and supervision
- Be involved in the implementation of specialist service within the multi-disciplinary area to maximise patient care and efficient use of resources.
- Participate in clinical effectiveness and other activities to support the Occupational Therapy Service healthcare governance agenda.
- Provide advice to occupational therapy support staff within specialist area in order to ensure quality service provision.
- Support research and development activity in order to ensure practice development and delivery of high quality service provision.
- Comply with Health Professions Council Standards of Proficiency.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
It is essential you have a Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy with current registration with the HCPC. A current Driving License is desirable for this post. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
Essential
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the Health Professions Council
- Knowledge and application of occupational therapy practice within the United Kingdom.
- Knowledge and application of clinical governance activities.
- Able to demonstrate ability to work as part of a team or on their own.
- Able to demonstrate planning and organisational skills.
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills and IT systems.
- Mandatory and Statutory training e.g. Fire, Moving and Handling
Desirable
- Membership with British Association of Occupational Therapists
- Current UK driving licence

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
