An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our Community Nursing Team in West Caithness.
As a HCA you will provide support to patients within their own community setting, you’ll provide a high level of care that reflects what matters to the patient. You’ll work in a team with HCAs, registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Good communication skills are essential for this role and throughout the patient care pathway to make sure patients’ needs are met
It is expected the HCA will work within defined parameters and scope of practice often unsupervised with delegated case/workload to fulfil agreed / assessed needs with a person centred focus this will involve a variety of tasks within a multidisciplinary framework such as wound care, basic vital signs, venepuncture, catheter care and provision of equipment.
The successful candidate will ideally have a SVQ 3/ Level 7 qualification or be willing to work towards this once in post to meet the requirements of the HCSW framework.
A driving licence is essential for this post and applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes. Pool vehicles may be available.
This is a permanent part-time post of 30 hours per week to be worked in accordance with service requirements and will be based at William Smith House, Thurso.

- Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
