The Role
Authorise justification and perform Radiographic examinations, providing direct care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service in order to assist in the management of patients referred from clinicians. Deputise for Modality Team Leaders as required and oversee Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, and Clinical Support Workers, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
To have a high level of knowledge and skills in one or more specialised field, generally to a post-graduate level.
To be responsible for the organisation of a specialised service within Radiology on a daily basis or carry out examinations of a highly specialised nature in MRI.
The working pattern for this role is Various Shift Patterns Covering 24/7
In this key role, you will:
- To provide high quality, efficient and effective Radiology services to the local population.
- Diagnostic Imaging equipment is used to carry out radiological examinations on patients and reports are provided to referring clinicians. The report assists the referrer in providing a diagnosis of the patient’s condition in order to decide on an effective course of treatment of a patient’s condition.
- The departmental Clinical Governance strategy ensures a high standard of care for patients undergoing radiological examination and promotes multidisciplinary team working.
- To provide a suitable environment for the training and assessment of student Radiographers.
What You'll Bring:
- Dealing with unpleasant odours, uncontained body fluids and infections frequently throughout all shifts, therefore requiring the use of universal infection control precautions.
- Occasional exposure to verbal abuse from patients / carers.
- Occasional risk of Physical abuse from patients / carers.
- Working constantly in artificial lighting with little or no nature daylight.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
