The role:
Post Holder joins a Team of Estates Workforce who are professionally responsible for meeting the organisations key objectives, for the delivery of patient care by the provision of Effective, Efficient and Safe Operation & Maintenance of Estates Services & Systems.
Compliance with Statutory Requirements & Mandatory NHS Healthcare Standards & Guidelines, for the day-to-day operational activities of the Estates Department.
Participate in the use of FM First PPM & Reactive Maintenance System to ensure delivery of Statutory Compliance and Effective Repairs.
Assists Tradesmen with daily duties, maintains a clean and tidy workplace.Semi-Skilled Work with relevant training carried out and certification obtained.
NHS delivers services around the clock, and this post requires the successful candidate participates in maintaining an Operational On-Call System.
Experience and Training on the use of Agricultural Vehicles and Ground Maintenance Equipment preferred but not essential as training can be provided.
Full UK Driving Licence essential.

Duration, Location and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Inverclyde Royal Hospital
- Permanent Contract
- Full-time position (37 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday + On Call
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring that the fabric of the building provides a safe environment for patients, public and staff, by review and fault finding.
- Perform the repair of minor faults in a safe manner and report faults out with range of training or skill to Technicians or Supervisors.
- Assist technicians and craftsperson with the installation and commissioning of building fabric, components, machinery, pipework and fittings, cabling and electrical equipment, to ensure safe practice, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance in accordance with divisional and manufacturers recommendations.
- Undertake daily/weekly visual inspection and checks across the facility as required.
- Check and change electrical plug tops as required.
- Participate in Fire Alarm Testing.
- Undertake Certificated Training on Agricultural and Grounds Plant & Machinery.
- Undertake Grass Cutting using Ride-on, Pedestrian Mowers and Strimmer’s
- Undertake Tree, Shrub, Hedge and Plant Bed Maintenance.
- Undertake Mechanical, Hand or Blower Sweeping and Cleaning.
- Undertake Litter Picking and Bin Emptying.
- Undertake High Pressure Water Jet Cleaning, Gulley Clearing.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of works procedures across the full range of trades and disciplines preferably operating within the healthcare environment.
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised and complete a wide range of minor works and responding to a variety of situations including planned maintenance, emergency response, installations and testing regimes
- Enthusiastic and demonstrate commitment to continued professional development.
- Post Holder will gain required Knowledge, Skills and Experience to undertake all aspects of the role anticipated to be over a two year period.
- Health & Safety awareness training in Asbestos, Legionella, Fire Safety, Confined Spaces, Lifting &Handling and Safe Working Practices).
- Complete Online Statutory and Mandatory Training.
- Complete Online Safety Training.
- Complete Job Specific Training as deemed necessary to carry out duties appropriate with the post.
Desirable
- Experience of operating Agricultural Plant & Machinery and Grounds Maintenance Equipment.
- LANTRA Certificated in use of Agricultural Vehicles, Snow Plough & Gritting Attachments.
- LANTRA Certificated in use of Grounds Maintenance Equipment.
