The role:
This position involves working within the team responsible for providing application and technical support for the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Acute and Community systems.
The eHealth Directorate’s overall aim is to deliver and maintain a comprehensive, integrated information, technology and records management strategy. This ensures that the right information is available in the right place at the right time, supporting the highest possible standards of diagnosis, treatment and patient care. The Directorate also aims to support continuous improvement in population health and enable more effective integration between Health services and our Local Authority partners.
This role contributes to that aim by ensuring that EPR support services are delivered effectively, enabling staff to use key systems confidently and efficiently.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent, Full-time
- Shift Pattern - Monday - Friday 9-5
- Base location - Westward House
Key responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with senior managers, clinical leaders and systems developers to ensure all work aligns with divisional needs and the NHSGGC Digital as Usual strategy.
- Influence business process change through participation in steering and working groups.
- Promote and champion cultural change across NHSGGC by delivering awareness sessions and leading planning, negotiation and implementation activities.
- Verify, gather, process and distribute information required to support application system implementation, using strong business analysis skills and understanding of clinical issues.
- Ensure information, systems and processes that support NHSGGC strategic objectives are properly specified, developed and implemented.
- Manage staff priorities and workload scheduling, adapting to changing business objectives to support the delivery of critical clinical and business applications.
- Communicate effectively at all organisational levels, requiring strong communication skills.
- Analyse complex situations, interpret information, compare options and deliver the most suitable solution.
- Provide reliable first‑line application support when needed, and deliver second‑ and third‑line support to end users and eHealth teams.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Educated to Diploma/Degree level in an IT-related subject or equivalent practical experience in this field
- Knowledge of desktop software is also required, including Microsoft Office
- Good understanding of Windows platforms
- Experience in using a helpdesk system
Desirable
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience in Unix/Linux
- Experience in using integration engines
- Driving Licence
Experience
- The post holder will have demonstrable practical experience in the support and implementation of clinical & business applications within a complex environment.
Behavioural Competencies
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a time-constrained environment
- Ability to exercise initiative and work independently
- Able to communicate clearly about technical issues and problems with non-technical users
- Good interpersonal and negotiating skills, allowing the post holder to influence decision-making

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
